Mufti Kamil Sakhi grew up in Flushing, New York. After completing middle school in 2011, he enrolled in the 7-year ʿĀlimiyyah program at Darul Uloom New York and graduated with high honors in 2018. During the ʿĀlimiyyah program, he would travel to New Jersey on the weekends to complete the 10 modes of Qur’ānic recitation (ʿAshara Qirā’āt) under Mufti Abdul Muqtadir (May Allāh preserve him), the student of Qari Ahmadullah of Dabhel, India. Mufti Kamil was one of the first two students to complete the 10 modes of Quranic recitation at Darul Uloom.

Mufti Sahib’s spiritual mentor is Shaykh al-Ḥadīth Mawlana Rafiq Ahmad Sahib (May Allāh protect him), the Khalīfah of Mawlana Abraar al-Ḥaq (May Allāh have mercy on him). After graduating from the ʿĀlimiyyah program, he enrolled in the Iftā’ program at Darul Uloom and studied under the head Mufti, Mufti Manzoor Ahmed, who is the student of the world-renowned scholar Mufti Taqi Uthmani. Mufti Kamil graduated in 2020 as one of the first graduate from the Iftā’ department at Darul Uloom.

After graduation, he was honored to be a member of American Fiqh Academy. Mufti Sahib has taught weekend school in Hillside Islamic Center and after school Maktab in Masjid Hamza. He would help lead prayers and conduct programs in Masjid Saliheen, Darul Taqwa and Masjid Jamaludeen Afghan. Mufti Sahib also taught in the Ḥifẓ department in Masjid Bilal from 2020-2021.
Under the supervision of his teachers, he founded Al-Hikmah Institute in October 2020. Currently, he serves as the president of Al-Hikmah Institute and the Imam and resident scholar of Masjid Al-Baqi in Bethpage.
